YES. The programme of Backslash 2017 is now completed and online. We added 4 new artists to the line up: Sombre Sabre (live), Komfortrauschen (live), Rubinsteig (hybrid) and Kush Khazeela (live). Backslash 2017 will have a total of 12 performances, that’s two more than last year’s edition of the festival. Also, this year we don’t have any DJ sets, but 10 live acts and 2 hybrid sets – only live music for our ears.
Sombre Sabre is the richness of powerful drum machines combined with acoustic drum, the electricity of synthesizers and the warmth of skilfully distorted guitar. The project was born in November 2016 as part of a special creation for the festival La Supérette in Neuchâtel. A genesis of four days resulting in a concert of a rare intensity, through hypnotic and industrial compositions.
Behind this young band hide Luc Hess and Jonathan Nido (Coilguns, Closet Disco Queen), two well-known musicians of the Swiss rock scene, who have toured a good part of the globe with their different projects, Gwenael Magnenat (Isolated Lines) and Gaspard Gigon (Gaspard de La Montagne), two techno artists of Creaked Records label.

A rocket launching pad inextricably tangled with an electric guitar, bass and drums. The cold wires, cables, pedals, beats fuse with living hands to come alive. Euphoric yet still sober, urgent and demanding yet sill relaxed and calm, contemplative and deep yet free and light – the appropriate soundtrack for meditative courtship behaviour in a bare concrete room. Always played live but with the aesthetics of a DJ set – that’s Komfortrauschen, a three piece live minimal techno band from Berlin.

Rubinsteig is raw and powerful industrial techno. Influenced by artists such as Orphx, OAKE, Regis, Ansome, Raime, Ancient Methods and many more. Rubinsteig blends together new wave, EBM and industrial sound with harder techno, merging dark ambient soundscapes and faster paced material.

Kush Khazeela is the soloistic- artistic output of musician Catia Lanfranchi. She produces her music and artwork autonomously and creates experimental pop songs with voice, synthezisers and through the whole spectrum of analog and digital instruments. After a bunch of collaborations with other musicians and bands, Catia Lanfranchi plays since winter 2016 with drummer Paul Amereller and will record the album ‚clapcat‘ with him and with the multi instrumentalist Alexandre Maurer during autumn 2017. In the weekly rehearsals, the electronically produced songs were cropped down to voice, synth and drums. The well-elaborated lyrics from Catia Lanfranchi are fundamental in the songs and are reaching a clear vehemence through a sensitive dynamic and raw organic in the sound. For an ultimate choice to find their own space in directions of music, the band settled their genre under ‚industrial grunge cure city wave‘. Influences from the 90s, the 70s, as like as the musical releases nowadays- inspiration from bands like: Wildbirds & Peacedrums, C. Duncan, Blonde Redhead, Sonic Youth, amm.
